New Balance Is Turning One of Its More Popular Sneakers Into a Cozy Slip-On

New Balance’s 610 trail running sneaker is undergoing another transformation, this time as a pillowy slip-on. The New Balance 610 Slip-On’s new construction features a plush upper sans any form of an articulated tongue. Available now on select New Balance overseas channels in two monochrome colorways, all-black and all-grey, the slip-on is cozier than the other laceless variants that have dropped in both collaborations and in-line releases. New Balance originally released the 610 as a trail running shoe in 2012, and the model was brought back from the archives in 2022 amid the gorpcore trend. Comme des Garçons, Joe Freshgoods, Bodega and Aminé soon took on the 610 through collaborations — and the rapper returned to the silhouette last year to debut its initial transformation into slip-on with three city-exclusive colorways made in extremely limited numbers. Soon after, New Balance Tokyo Design Studio released its own version of the suede and mesh slip-on. The 610s sole unit has been a constant in all iterations, and the lines of the upper have been simplified with each subsequent rendition. Similar reconfigurations have also been seen with New Balance’s soon-to-be-released 1906R loafer and the 2002R mule. While the New Balance 610 Slip-On is available
