Dec. 16, 2024: Genesco Inc. fitted 330 students at Park Avenue Elementary School in Nashville, Tenn. with an early Christmas gift during its 35th annual Cold Feet Warm Shoes event on Friday. Founded in 1989, Cold Feet Warm Shoes is Genesco’s signature community outreach program. For this event, Genesco employee volunteers greeted children and sized each child for two new pairs of shoes and socks in a mock shoe store in the school’s gymnasium. The students then showed off their new items by walking on the red carpet and posing for pictures with Tennessee Titan’s mascot, T-Rac, and cheerleaders. “Joy, pure joy,” Mimi Vaughn, Genesco board chair, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement when asked to describe the morning. “To watch the joy on the faces of our employees who are volunteering and to watch the joy in the faces of those who are receiving is wonderful.” Aug. 19, 2024: Sneaker retailer The Athlete’s Foot has teamed up with the Refugee Life Association, Youth Guidance and the Community Retail Association for the Back 2 School Kicks event in Chicago. The event will take place on Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. CT
