It’s all about cars and tennis for custom footwear designer Dominic Ciambrone, a.k.a. the Shoe Surgeon, this month. For his latest tie-up, Ciambrone has created a range of custom sneakers with Cadillac directly inspired by the auto company’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio – the Cadillac LyrIQ, CelestIQ, OptIQ, and Escalade IQ. To bring the collection to life, the Surgeon team collaborated with Cadillac designers and artisans in-person at General Motors’ Design Center in Warren, Mich. The teams drew influence from the design detailing of each vehicle and incorporated elements of the specific cars, including interior leathers and upholstery patterning, textiles, and stitching techniques, as well as interior and exterior paint colors and design cues into the sneakers. The exclusive four-piece collection of custom Cadillac x Surgeon shoes will all be available for purchase for a limited time only on CadillacSignature.com beginning Sept. 8. Only five pairs of each EV shoe nameplate (20 total) will be sold. Pricing will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the USTA Foundation’s Frances Tiafoe Fund.
