Today is Kobe Bryant Day — a day celebrated to honor the late NBA legend. The August 24 date is significant because it combines Bryant’s two uniform numbers, 8 and 24, and falls one day after his August 23 birthday. The holiday was established in 2016 following Bryant’s retirement from the NBA, but it’s taken on a more emotional meaning since his untimely passing in 2020. For this year’s observance, Nike held a massive Kobe sneaker restock via its online SNKRS platform. In total, eight different Kobe styles were offered for their original retail prices including the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Gift of Mamba,” Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly,” Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Italian Camo,” Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch,” Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Aqua,” Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Court Purple,” Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Halo” and the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Venice Beach.” In addition to the adult sizes, select styles were also made available in big kids and little kids sizing. The restock occurred August 24 at 11:24 a.m. with Nike’s official announcement coming just moments beforehand.
