MSCHF Will Take On Reebok’s Iconic Pump Technology

MSCHF is no stranger to virality, and it’ll soon take on a form of sneaker technology that made quite a bit of noise well before the era of the terminally online. Leaks have revealed that the the Brooklyn-based art collective will partner with Reebok on the Pump Omni Zone 2. The silhouette originally debuted in 1991, two years after Reebok first unveiled the technology allowing its wearer to finely tune the level of cushioning around the ankle. A rookie Dee Brown wore Pump Omni Zone 2 sneaker while winning the ’91 NBA Dunk contest, and Reebok reissued the sneaker for the first time for its 30th anniversary in 2021. Since its return, the Pump Omni Zone 2 has been a semi-regular feature in Reebok’s release calendar — but no iteration has quite looked like this one. First seen in images sourced by Complex, the Omni Zone 2 takes on a surplus amount of the pumps that give the tech its name. In addition to appearing on the tongue, the basketball-shaped buttons now appear across the upper and again on the lower portion of the tongue. While some are branded with “The Pump,” others take on “The MSCHF” branding instead.
