Please Enjoy These Perfect Celebrity Cannes Outfits From the '90s

The Cannes Film Festival, also known as the most glamorous film festival in the world, is beginning next week, and although we're certainly excited to see what looks the celeb attendees have in store for 2022, we're equally interested in what looks they had in store in the '90s

Although the trends have changed over the years (well, decades), what hasn't changed is the overall vibes of Cannes. There's something about the French seaside atmosphere that gives a certain je ne sais quoi to a red carpet look. And given that basically every '90s trend is cool again, it was especially enjoyable to look back at what celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Salma Hayek, and Nicole Kidman wore. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised to see some similar outfits at Cannes today.

In honor of the impending Cannes Film Festival, read on to see some of our favorite throwback looks from the '90s and shop present-day pieces inspired by them.

WHO: Cameron Diaz. If this doesn't sum up Canne in the '90s, I don't know what does.
WHO: Salma Hayek. Now you see what those barely-buttoned cardigans of today were inspired by.
WHO: Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley. Love that she matched her tennis ball-green shoes to her dress.
WHO: Nicole Kidman. Vest styling inspo.
WHO: Naomi Campbell. Supermodels have been gracing the Cannes red carpet for decades, and we hope that never changes.
WHO: Sharon Stone. Today begins our mission to find a dress like this.
WHO: Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio. If someone told me this was the exact look a celeb was wearing to Cannes in 2022, I would believe them.
WHO: Drew Barrymore. This photo sums up why Drew Barrymore was the queen of the '90s.
WHO: Winona Ryder. Leave it to Winona to make red carpet dressing look effortless.
WHO: Kate Winslet. This pretty, minimal look would work in any decade and any summertime location.

Next up, all of the '90s trends that have (and haven't) made a comeback.
