6 Under-$70 Fall Staples That Are Replacing All My Summer Go-Tos

Throughout every season, there are certain pieces I gravitate towards over and over again. In the summer, that happens to be poplin dresses, flowy trousers, cropped shirts, the list goes on. Now that fall is coming soon, while I may be able to still include a few of these favorites into my wardrobe, it won't be as easy as it was for the warmer weather. Airy dresses will involve more layering and flowy trousers may be too thin for a chilly fall day. So now that it's September, I'm starting to look towards my fall replacements. (Don't worry, I'm not tossing anything and neither should you. This is just my way of creating a quick and easy dressing solution each morning. My summer pieces will still have their moments again)

Below, you can see the clothing items I look towards in the summer and the items I'm going to be relying on heavily this fall instead. I shopped out picks from our latest drop of our Who What Wear x Target line, so luckily everything is WWW approved and all under $70.

Summer: Poplin Dresses
Fall: Leather Dresses

While I opted for my airy dresses in the summertime, I'm ready to switch them out for thicker dresses like leather ones. They're an easy staple that doesn't need much styling, as it's a show piece on it's own.

Summer: Cropped Tops
Fall: Cropped Cardigans

It's not a goodbye to crop tops, you can still layer them under blazers or jackets, but cropped cardigans will be my go-to top to wear over jeans and skirts this fall.

Summer: Flowy Pants
Fall: Wide-Leg Trousers

Warmer materials aren't just for tops out outerwear, I like to wear leather or corduroy trousers in a wide-leg fit to keep things polished.

Summer: High-Waisted Shorts
Fall: Tapered Trousers

While you can still get away with shorts and boots in some areas with warmer weather, tapered trousers are a more suitable solution.

Summer: Bright Florals
Fall: Muted Patterns

There's always a time and place for bright colors, but I can't help but opt for more muted tones when the weather starts to cool down.

Summer: Breezy Tops
Fall: Thick Knits

It's sweater weather! I loved throwing on a breezy top over jeans and will still wear them, but sweaters will reign in my daily outfits.
