Each year, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks show draws millions of viewers, both in person and through a television broadcast. With COVID-19 restrictions lifting around the U.S., this year’s broadcast will look a little bit more like those of the past as “fully vaccinated” attendees will be allowed to watch in person in New York City, according to a press release. This year’s festivities will kick off with a tribute to “American bravery and optimism” with a show filled with vibrant colors, bold lights, shapes and sounds. This year’s Macy’s Fireworks show will launch more than 65,000 shells and effects from five barges positioned on the East River centered in midtown.
