When writing our S/S 20 trend report, I never could have anticipated the way life was about to change. Many of the clothes arriving in stores this month were designed to be worn to weddings, beer gardens, and summer events. However, the S/S collections did have an overarching practical theme that makes many of the items that were tipped to spike still relevant to our lives at home. In the spring collections, we saw a desire for more classic, timeless pieces, largely driven by sustainability having a significant impact on how trends are now shaped.
One of the items that fashion buyers kept mentioning to me as a key product for the season was a blue Oxford button-down shirt by The Row. The one item that I keep wearing for my video work calls and keep seeing other people wearing too is an oversize Oxford shirt. The loose fit makes them feel comfortable and relaxed, plus they go with midi skirts or any jeans or trousers, making them an easy piece to style.
The most popular outfit I've seen people wearing is an oversize white shirt tucked into straight-leg jeans, but I've also seen blue shirts worn with midi skirts or Oxfords layered underneath knits. Keep scrolling for some styling inspiration if you already have a shirt at home, and in case you're looking to purchase one, scroll further for our edit.
