Skateboarding can be fun but also frustrating if your board isn’t up to par. A great skateboard should be lightweight yet durable with a deck that provides the right balance of flexibility and rigidity for tricks. When shopping for one, first consider how you’ll be using it. Will you be doing tricks, or just cruising? If the latter is your answer, a longboard with a wide, stable platform and large wheels is likely your best bet. Penny boards are also a great option for beginners. Like longboards, they have large wheels for cruising, but offer a more compact design that’s easier to transport while you’re not on the board. If you plan to learn or finesse some tricks, a classic skateboard silhouette with smaller wheels is your go-to. With all this in mind, we did some research and rounded up a few of our favorite skateboards on the market to fit any need.
